The double jeopardy law is intended to protect the innocent from unfair harassment and persecution. Sometimes it protects the guilty as well. This programme follows the case of Mel Ignatow who was tried and acquitted for the rape and murder of Brenda Schaefer. Photographic evidence a year later is discovered that points to Mel Ignatow's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The double jeopardy rule means he is still a free man.
