The 90’s new mum may have been too posh to push, and went for an elective caesarean, but in 2005 new mum’s are taking control themselves, kicking hospitals into touch and having their babies at home. The good news for these sassy and strong minded women is that there is a new breed of community midwife to make their dreams come true. In this new series Home Grown Babies, our midwives will take mothers to be and their partners through their pregnancy and birth helping them to achieve their desire of having their babies in the comfort of their own homes. 

Each programme will focus on a couple as they plan the arrival of their babies in their own homes. We will follow waterbirths and dry births and see these babies as they make their entrance into the world on the kitchen, living, bedroom or bathroom floors.  Home Grown Babies will get the nation talking and arguing over the right place to have a baby. People will take a view; it will stand out in the schedules as being new and fresh with the potential for return series.
