Taking Back The Years

6 x 30 HD
Broadcaster:  Vision TV

Taking Back the Years is a provocative journey through the world’s most interesting and potent approaches to fighting aging and the famed scientists, doctors, researchers, and practitioners behind them. From Deepak Chopra, heralded by Time Magazine as one of the top heroes and icons of the 21st century, to Dr. Aubrey de Grey, the Cambridge University professor and author of Ending Aging, this six-part documentary series looks at the world’s latest anti-aging treatments, authorities and discoveries.

Is aging a disease that can be cured? Will we be able to live to be 200 years old in the next 25 years? Can diet, exercise, or vitamins significantly reduce or even impact our body’s ‘real age’? What about meditation, Ayurvedic practices or herbal remedies? Beginning at an Ayurvedic centre in Kerala, South India, Rajendra Patel undertakes the rigorous, 4000 year old practice of Kayakalpa. Meanwhile Canadian filmmaker Hilary Pryor undergoes the latest discoveries in Western medicine in her own 90-day age fighting regime.

The more Hilary finds out the more she is intrigued by the parallels between the scientific and holistic approaches. Aubrey de Grey believes ageing is essentially an engineering problem that will be solved in the next 30 years allowing people to live for 200, 300 years …or more! But do either Mr. Patel or the filmmaker manage to “take back” any years?
