London-based TVF International has teamed with Asian broadcasters on the documentary series Aerial Asia (eight x 60 minutes, pictured). The 4K-shot program will give viewers a bird’s eye-view of major cities, ancient sites and landscapes.
The series got off the ground at MIPCOM 2015 when TVF’s head of Asia Pacific Will Stapley signed a coproduction and distribution agreement with Mountain TV and the Korean Creative Content Agency to produce the 4K doc Korea From Above. That project later sold to broadcasters in India, Brazil and across Europe.
This year, TVF Japan exec Matt Perkins inked a similar deal with Japanese producer Tokyovision to shoot in UHD over Tokyo, Yokohama and other cities. A further four episodes will be produced with Singapore’s Mediacorp and shot in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Novista and Beach House Pictures are producing and the episodes will debut next March on NewsAsia.
