TVF programming heads to MENA

London-based distributor TVF International has sold a variety of its blue-chip factual content across channels in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Al Jazeera Media Network has picked up BBC’s Jim Al-Khalili-hosted The Amazing World of Gravity (2 x 45) and Margaret Mountford hosted The Man Who Shot Tutankhamun (1 x 60) alongside Channel 4′s The Billion Dollar Flower Market (1 x 46), Discovery Asia’s Flying the Great Wall (1 x 52) and The Maritime Silk Road (6 x 48).

Elsewhere, BBC Arabic acquired the rights to the documentary The Checklist Effect (1 x 45), which goes into hospitals around the world to meet with experts, doctors and patients to understand the challenges faced by surgical teams. BBC Arabic also bought PBS’ Islamic Art: Mirror of the Invisible World (1 x 57), a documentary which provides a window into Islamic culture.

Discovery MENA returned for the third series of competitive fishing format, The Big Fish Off (15 x 46), which originally aired on ITV4.

Kuwait TV secured Aerial Asia (4 x 46), Autism: Challenging Behaviour (1 x 60), Brain Damage: The Truth About Trauma (1 x 52), Hidden Heroes (26 x 30), Secrets of the Universe (8 x 30) and The Truth About Vitamins (1 x 60). Kuwait TV and Dubai TV also picked up packages of over 20 hours of science, space, health and travel and adventure programming from TVF’s specialist factual catalogue.
