African broadcasters take TVF titles

A host of African broadcasters have picked up shows including Pop Up Start Up from London-based factual distributor TVF International.

The 6×50’ entrepreneur-focused business show has been acquired by pay TV provider Kwesè TV pan-Africa, which has also taken environmental travel-entertainment series Across the World with Te Radar (16×23’) and hidden-camera show Hidden Heroes (26×22’) from TVF.

Viasat World, meanwhile, has picked up the first four seasons of Wild World (29×26’), as well as Frontier Borneo (10×23’), WW2: China’s Forgotten Ally (2×50’), Hidden Histories: WW1’s Forgotten Photographs (1×50’) and Keeping it in the Royal Family (1×47’).

Nigeria-based pan-Africa network EbonyLife TV has acquired a package of more than 20 hours, including Back2back Productions’ biographical series The Changing Face Of… and contemporary art series Brilliant Ideas (75×24’), produced by Bloomberg TV.

Brilliant Ideas has also been taken by South Africa’s Mindset TV, as have science titles The Amazing World of Gravity (1×90’/2×45’) from UK prodco Furnace and The Big Idea (8×22’), a Channel NewsAsia-commissioned popular science series presented by Justin Bratton.

Also in South Africa, e.tv has licensed a package of cooking, health, fashion and interior-design shorts, as well as seasons one to three of The Food Files, produced by Singapore-based activeTV, and a trio of health series – Chasing Food, Chasing Sleep and Chasing Longevity, produced by Very! Productions.

In East Africa, Azam TV has acquired the rights to the first five seasons of competitive outdoor cooking format Ultimate Braai Master, produced by Cooked in Africa Films.
