David Attenborough and the Giant Elephant pulls in Primetime Drama Ratings

The seven-part natural history show drew to a close with an outing just shy of the 10.5m (42.9%) series average.

The David Attenborough-narrated series was well ahead of the 6.6m (30.2%) slot average and also defeated Planet Earth II’s 9.7m (37.4%) average in the same slot from November 2016.

Across its run, Blue Planet II attracted a 37.5% share of 16-24s watching TV at the time, well ahead of the 19.7% average.

More Attenborough followed across the 9pm hour. Attenborough and the Giant Elephant, a one-off doc about the inspiration for Disney movie Dumbo, informed 4.9m (20.6%), in line with the average for the slot, which is usually reserved for dramas.
