Discovery gets high with TVF Aerial Docs

Discovery, Globosat and Fox are among a host of broadcasters that have pre-bought specialist factual programming commissioned and distributed by TVF International.

Discovery Asia and Discovery Japan, Globosat in Brazil and Fox in Spain have acquired all episodes of Thailand from Above (2×60’), Vietnam from Above (1×60’) and Laos from Above (1×60’), which capture and uncover the coastlines, temples, forests and other aspects of the long history of the South-East Asian countries. French language-network Évasion in Quebec and Ananey in Israel have also pre-bought the shows.

The documentaries, exec produced by TVF, follow on from the distributor’s successful franchise Aerial Asia, produced by Beach House Productions for Mediacorp in Singapore.

Elsewhere, RSI, the network for Switzerland’s Italian-speaking demographic, and Arte in France have picked up the special Flying the Great Wall (1×60’), which is also part of Aerial Asia. The show captures, for the first time, this triumph of Ming dynasty architecture entirely from the air.

Skyworks-produced The World from Above (134×26’), currently in production for its 10th season, has been pre-sold to Globosat, Foxtel in Australia, MTVA Hungary and BBC Arabic.

“TVF International is well known as the distributor of high-quality aerial series and specials, so it was the obvious next step for us to start commissioning this programming from our trusted production partners across Asia direct for the international market,” said division head Harriet Armston-Clarke.
