Mr Right is Stuck in Traffic

1 x 46 HD
Broadcaster:  W Network

You are probably familiar with ‘Mr Right’. He is lusciously handsome with a thriving – yet low maintenance – career. He is witty and charming. He is dangerous, yet caring. It may seem like he isn’t ready to commit, yet deep down all he wants is to find, marry and impregnate the woman of his dreams. To do so, he is quite happy to spend obscene amounts of money, embarrass himself without a care and even embark on a high-speed chase or two. But what if he gets stuck in traffic?

Women spend billions on Mr Right through romantic comedy box office tickets and chick lit book sales. Fixated on a fantasy man, is it really any surprise that so many single women can’t find the right guy, and so many attached women are daydreaming about an upgrade? Told from the perspective of Erin Skillen, a recovering chick culture addict, Mr Right is Stuck in Traffic investigates whether ‘chick flicks’ and ‘chick lit’ are harmless fun or ruthless relationship saboteurs. It also delves beyond chick culture influences into the deeper issues surrounding women and their search for long-term relationships.

Using social experiments, humorous re-enactments, film clips, animation and interviews with experts, Erin delves into her own and other women’s expectations for romance, tackling the picky pursuit of perfection and sorting out how real love evolves. She looks at how socio-political shifts have affected women’s marital expectations and how technology impacts our chances of finding true love. Best-selling authors Marian Keyes (Anybody Out There?) and Jane Green (Swapped Lives) will join relationship expert Dr. Michelle (The Today Show and The Tyra Banks Show) and a variety of other authors, experts and actors to share their thoughts on nasty cases of inflated expectations and possible cures for this pop culture-fuelled pandemic.
