Bridge the Gap

4 x 60
Broadcaster:  National Geographic Channel,  PBS

Join Global Explorer, United Nations Speaker, and accidental funnyman, Chris Bashinelli, on an introspective adventure across continents. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Chris Bashinelli (The Sopranos, HBO) gave up his acting career to pursue his real passion – using media to bridge intercultural gaps around the world. In this new series, featured on National PBS television and National Geographic Channel, Bashinelli traverses the globe from Tanzania to Abu Dhabi to discover what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes for one day.

Chris gives new meaning to the term “cultural exchange”. He’s willing to do just about anything in order to make a genuine human connection. Whether he’s sliding his arm shoulder deep up a cow’s backside on an Indian Reservation or screaming whilst he escapes from venomous bees in Uganda, he offers viewers a glimpse inside a world they might otherwise never see. He plays, parties, and works side by side with locals in order to better understand their way of life firsthand.

Bridge the Gap paints a brief, yet colorful picture of life in each episode. Chris competes in a rap battle in a Haitian slum, rides motorcycles across the mountains of East Africa, harvests buffalo with the Oglala Lakota of Pine Ridge, and goes on horseback across the Mongolian steppe. He discovers how people live, what they care about, and how their lives relate to ours. While we all look, talk and act a little different, at the end of the day, we are all the same.
