In March 2020, COVID-19 sweeps India. The government orders 1.5 million schools to switch to remote lessons.  Nearly 3 million school children receive little or no in-person teaching for over 18 months.

 

It is one of the longest school closures in the world. It fuels an unprecedented education crisis. Digital divides widen, learning outcomes plummet, children are distressed and many students are in danger of dropping out. As schools re-open and students return to classrooms they struggle to perform.
