Located in the middle of a lava field in the remote west of Iceland, sits the Hotel Budir.
The hotel peaks out of a desolate landscape, and is a place of sanctuary and retreat for its visitors. Owned by an entrepreneur and staffed for decades by villagers from the only town in the peninsula, the hotel confronts the wild Atlantic Ocean. It is believed Jules Vernes set a scene from his famous "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", by the iconic black church, next to this hotel.
From the series, The World's Most Remote Hotels.
