This aerial documentary explores Europe's Arctic through three seasonal journeys across northern Finland, Norway and Sweden. With each episode taking in the winter's polar night, the summer's midnight sun and the fiery colours of autumn, discover how climate and geography shape settlement, culture and industry across the Arctic Circle.
Weaving across borders, timescales and coastlines, the series takes in large-scale landscapes with human stories including Indigenous Sámi livelihoods and the industries powering modern towns and shaping contemporary arctic settlement. Along the way, these epic voyages visits key locations including Rovaniemi and the Tornio borderlands, the Sámi lands of Kautokeino, and Norway's northern fjords where orcas and humpbacks gather.
Across glaciers, villages, alps, lakes and gold fields, these arctic voyages reveal how remote communities adapt to extreme conditions, how nature, war and industry have reshaped the far north, and how Indigenous knowledge, resource extraction and geopolitics continue to shape life in the European Arctic today.
