2 x 47 HD
Broadcaster:  CNA

Self-driving cars will be on many of our roads soon. With rapid developments taking place every day across Asia, Europe, and the US, we are closer than ever to a fully automatised system of transport. But how do these vehicles actually work? And are they on track to be the future of transport?

Award-winning radio DJs and car enthusiasts, The Muttons, head to China - the world’s fastest growing Autonomous Vehicle market - to learn about this pioneering technology. Racing to be the largest and most advanced AV market by 2030, China has already begun a nationwide rollout of driverless cars, buses, and even helicopters.

The Muttons travel to the heart of Chinese tech hub Guangzhou to meet the brains behind the vehicles and learn about the technology and infrastructure rapidly evolving to support the AV market. They learn about how autonomy may completely transform not only the future of transport but also other aspects of our daily lives from street maintenance to budget tourism. Along the way, they get to test out robo-taxis and self-flying helicopters with characteristic humour and excitement, sharing insights into what transport will soon mean for the everyday person.
