12-episode run was commissioned and produced by US business title alongside Windfall Films
The BBC has picked up an unscripted series with professor Hannah Fry that was originally commissioned by US-based news giant Bloomberg.
The Future with Hannah Fry was part of Bloomberg’s rebranded originals slate unveiled in 2023, and was produced with the UK’s Windfall Films.
The first 6 x 30-minute season will debut on BBC Two and iPlayer on Wednesday 13 May, with the second six-part run set to hit UK screens in autumn.
The Emmy Award-winning franchise, which is sold by TVF International, follows mathematician and author Fry as she meets people trying to solve challenges such as quantum computing, clean energy, AI and the weaponisation of data.
TVF International launched the second season at its London TV Screenings event in February and has already sold it to broadcasters including SBS in Australia.
The show was first available to stream on the Bloomberg app alongside other originals from the business-focused publisher. Titles also became available via Bloomberg TV, BTV+ and Bloomberg.com.
Poppy McAlister, managing director of TVF International, said: “Hannah Fry is a special talent with a truly global fan base. This series delivers compelling and valuable insights into the future of technology, and the future of us.
“We’re delighted to have partnered with the UK’s largest public broadcaster to bring the series to a broader British audience.”
