TVF marks specialist factual sales; CBC launches FAST platform, unveils winter slate

TVF International drums up specialist factual sales

Independent distributor TVF International announced a raft of sales, closed ahead of the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers.

Genepool Productions, and Handful of Films’ Carbon: The Unauthorised Biography (1 x 55 min, 1 x 89 min), examining the history of the element, was commissioned by ABC, CBC and ZDF/ARTE, and sold to more than 15 territories worldwide. This included National Geographic in Latin America, who also licensed each season of RTE’s Eco-Eye: Sustainable Solutions (48 x 25 min). Beach House Productions’ Frontier Sumatra (1 x 52) exploring the Kampar Peninsula, as well as Rain: The Untold Story (3 x 60) produced by Cwmni Da for the BBC, TG4 and LIC on the eroding effect of rain since antiquity, were sold to ARTE, Discovery Networks Asia and EarthX TV, and National Geographic Eastern Europe, Movistar Plus+ in Spain, ČESKÁ TELEVIZE in Czech Republic ,as well as Al Jazeera for the Middle East.

Other sales from TVF International included Secrets of Size: Atoms to Supergalaxies (2 x 60) picked up by Canal+ Polska, Knowledge Network in Canada and Swedish pubcaster UR; Smart Cities (8 x 23 min) to ABC (Australia); Ancient Splendours of Rome (2 x 50 min) to Mediawan’s Tout l’historie channel in France; Lost Treasure Tombs of the Ancient Maya (2 x 47) to YLE in Finland, VRT in Belgium and FTV Prima in the Czech Republic; and Inferno: Letters from Auschwitz (1 x 50) to HSCC in Israel.
