
Independent factual distributor TVF International (TVFI) will bring more than 80 new hours of factual programming to Sunny Side of the Doc and Sheffield Doc Fest as part of its freshly launched summer slate.
Fresh WWII history titles lead the slate, including the BBC Storyville and ABC commission Our Dad the Nazi Killer (1 x 59 min. / 2 x 52 min. / 1 x 90 min.) from Identity Productions, about alleged revenge killings of Nazis living in post-war Australia, and The Day the War Ended (1 x 52 min. / 1 x 105 min.) from Fun Job Studios, investigating the effects of the war’s end on the people of Taiwan, who suddenly became “Chinese” after 50 years under Japanese rule.
Also in the history genre, TVFI is launching the CBC documentary Atomic Reaction: Canada’s Secret Role in the Manhattan Project (2 x 45 min. / 1 x 90 min.) and Channel 4’s Edward vs George: The Windsors at War (2 x 47 min., pictured right) from DoubleBand Films, about the bitter family feud between these two kings.
On the world affairs front is the BBC commission Stacey Dooley: Growing Up Gypsy (1 x 54 min., pictured top) from Little Venice Studios, in which presenter Dooley is invited into the traditionally private Traveler community to meet women who are breaking the mold in the community; and Wombless: India’s Hysterectomy Crisis (2 x 47 min.), a CNA-commissioned series from Mediacorp, about forced hysterectomies across India.
Also hailing from Mediacorp for CNA is the fast-turnaround current affairs doc The Myanmar Earthquake (1 x 47 min.) and Addicted: Inside the Global Drugs Trade (3 x 47 min.). The slate also includes two new specials from Mediacorp’s investigative series When Titans Clash (14 x 47 min.): The Tech and Trade Wars (1 x 47 min.), about the burgeoning trade war between the U.S. and China, and The Tariff War Hits Asia (1 x 47 min.), about the impact of Trump’s tariffs on Asia and the world. Meanwhile, China and the Global South (2 x 47 min.) is also returning for a second series, this time looking at China’s massive infrastructure investments across Southeast Asia.
TVFI is also taking a selection of science and environment titles to the summer markets, including the BBC’s Are We Ready For Net Zero? (4 x 52 min.) from Attaboy TV, SR/Arte’s City.Climate.Sustainability (4 x 26 min.) from Qatsi.tv, and CNA’s The Earthquake Detectives (1 x 47 min.) from Mediacorp. Also in science, The Carbon Hunters (3 x 45 min.) from CIPM goes on a global journey to uncover the secrets of the misunderstood element. Rounding out the distributor’s science offerings is the Visions du Réel doc from Jeffrey Zablotny, Messengers (1 x 45 min.), an exploration of infinity and the vastness of our universe through the lens of subatomic particles.
In health and relationships, the TVFI slate is led by the medical obs-doc series Transplant Stories (4 x 50 min.) for Knowledge Network, TBS’ Childhood Obesity: A Silent Pandemic (1 x 58 min.) for Movistar Plus+ and My AI Relationship (1 x 54 min.) from Artefact Films, which explores the complex and growing world of AI chatbot romance.
The distributor is also launching four new wildlife titles: Discovery’s Bull Shark Face Off: USA vs Australia (1 x 48 min.) from Breakout Productions; ZDF/Arte’s Wild Family: Living with Jaguars (5 x 26 min. / 1 x 52 min.) from Grifa Films; EBS’ The Pacific Ocean (3 x 50 min.); and The Cradle of Nature (3 x 30 min. / 1 x 90 min.) for Migu, which explores the ecosystem of the remote Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
In the factual entertainment realm, TVFI is bringing Knowledge Network’s access doc Wildfire (5 x 50 min., pictured left) from Burning Films to the markets, alongside the new fishing series Untamed Anglers: The Monster Quest (5 x 48 min.) and Licence to Drive (6 x 30 min.) from Sweet Productions for Sky NZ, about young drivers with disabilities learning to take the wheel.
Finally, in the arts and lifestyle category is the NDR/Arte biopic Rauschenberg: Everything is Art (1 x 52 min.) from Brandmedia Film, the aerial docs Cambodia From Above (1 x 52 min.) and series two of Castles From Above (6 x 52 min.), as well as series two of the gardening program Healing Gardens (5 x 23 min.) and series three of the coastal travel and conservation show Wild Coastal Canada (10 x 24 min.).
