Independent factual distributor TVF International (TVFI) has announced a range of recent deals with broadcaster partners across Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg to kick off the new year.
Dutch pubcaster AVROTROS has acquired both Welcome to Babel: Painting Communism (1 x 54 min.), about the history of Communism depicted in the painting Tower of Babel by former Red Guard-turned-artist Jiawei Shen, and NDR/Arte’s Rauschenberg: Everything is Art (1 x 50 min.), about painter Robert Rauschenberg, for their arts biography slot, ‘Close Up.’
Fellow Dutch pubcaster VPRO picked up a package of arts titles from the distributor for NPO2 Extra, including Golden Opulence: A History of Luxury (1 x 50 min.) about the legacy of luxury in Anatolia and features Victoria Beckham, and Mamamoo: Where Are We Now? (4 x 24 min.), a docuseries following the beloved K-Pop girl group.
In Belgium, DPG Media licensed multiple titles from the distributor, for the network’s flagship current affairs and documentary slot, ‘VTM1 Telefacts,’ including health titles from TVF’s MIPCOM slate such as the CBC-commissioned The Ozempic Effect: Beyond the Waistline (1 x 54 min.) and Childhood Obesity: The Overlooked Pandemic (1 x 58 min.).
DPG also licensed the world affairs documentary Stalking: State of Fear (1 x 54 min.), commissioned by ITV and produced by award-winning prodco Clover Films.
Belgian pay TV network Proximus licensed a range of TVFI titles, including the CBC-commissioned Fluid: Life Beyond the Binary (1 x 48 min.), which explores the history and science of gender and sexual fluidity in the natural world, hosted by award-winning non-binary comedian Mae Martin. Proximus also picked up Down for Love (5 x 45 min.), which follows people with disabilities navigating the world of dating.
Elsewhere in the territory, Plattelands licensed the ZDF/Arte-commissioned science doc Planet Soil (1 x 52 min.), which uses macro-photography to explore the ecosystems inhabiting the world beneath our feet.
