TVF International launches summer slate at Sunny Side

At Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle, France, distributor TVF International (TVFI) presented 70 new hours of premium factual programming for its summer slate.

The UK-based distributor is debuting The Bondi Terror Attack: One Year On (1 x 90 min./ 1 x 60 min.), an SBS commission from Mint Pictures, which investigates the event that tested Australia’s national security apparatus ahead of its first anniversary in December, and explores the broader rise in social conflict worldwide, including antisemitism, Islamophobia and neo-Nazism.

To mark 25 years since the 9/11 attacks this September, TVFI presents CNA’s Windows on the World: 9/11’s Forgotten Victims (1 x 47 min.) from Make Waves Media, which follows the Asian migrants who worked at the renowned North Tower restaurant and the untold stories of their tragic ends.

Other current affairs docs include Why U.S. Allies Are De-Risking from America (1 x 47 min.), which the distributor is adding to its award-winning When Titans Clash series, as well as ICE Nation (1 x 58 min./ 2 x 47 min.), from Mediacorp’s long-running ‘Walk the Line’ strand, about the U.S.’s controversial immigration police.

TVFI’s history lineup includes Written in Stone: St. Francis and his Pilgrims (1 x 54 min.) for RTI Mediaset, commemorating 800 years since the saint’s death with a secret history of the recently discovered graffiti on his Basilica; TVO’s The Theft (1 x 59 min./ 1 x 84 min.) from Storyline Entertainment, about the real home and best custodian of the looted 12th-century Ghazni marbles; and Chiang Kai-Shek: Shadow Across the Taiwan Strait (1 x 47 min.), also from Mediacorp, which explores the former Chinese president’s notorious legacy.

The distributor’s premium health programming includes the PBS ‘Nova’ doc The Battle to Breathe (1 x 52 min., pictured) from Wingspan, examining cystic fibrosis; C.N.A.’s Good Death Innovators: AI Beyond the Grave, a buzzy title on the emerging “grief tech” market; and YLE’s A Comedian’s Guide to Happiness (6 x 43 min.) which looks at whether Finland is truly “the happiest country in the world.”

TVFI is also launching the science title The Peace Particle (1 x 59 min./ 1 x 90 min.), an S4C and ARTE co-commission on the history of the Hadron Collider, while natural history/wildlife titles include The Keepers of the Pigs (1 x 70 min.) and The Route to Cappyness (1 x 52 min./ 1 x 70 min.), exploring guinea pigs and capybaras, respectively.

Finally, on the food front, the distributor has added APTN’s Pow Wow Chow (26 x 23 min.), a vibrant journey along the Indigenous North American Food Trail, as well as a second series of the BBC’s Flaming Feasts (6 x 30 min.), which takes viewers on a culinary journey through Wales.
