Jihad: The Men and Ideas Behind Al Qaeda

2 x 52
Broadcaster:  PBS

Narrated by Christopher Olgiati, this is the definitive history of the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization. Jihad: The  Men and Ideas behind Al Qaeda gets inside the minds of the men who led Al Qaeda. With rare footage and first hand testimony from those who fought, conspired and lived with them, this is the inside story of Al Qaeda’s three leaders – Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Zawahiri, and Abu Musab Al Zarqawi.

A story of how the peaceful and noble religion of Islam was perverted by Islamist terrorists in the name of jihad and an exploration into the roots of the organisation and its origin due to upheavals in the Muslim world that date back more than half a century. The film shows clearly how the blood-soaked careers of these three men were driven by a specific ideology of violence and hatred towards the West.

Winner, Alfred I. Dupont-Columbia University Award
