The Internationale

1 x 28 / 1 x 60

This film is not just a history of the Internationale but a history of the meaning this song has carried to all those who have raised their fists and sung it in the hope of a better future. The Internationale is an anthem which has been sung in most places and languages of the world, by a broad cross section of peoples.

Director and producer Peter Miller does the anthem justice by featuring an array of individuals who have a story to tell, from literary professor to Spanish Civil war volunteer, from idealistic Chinese students to long term American activists with a prison record. It is a unique demonstration of how ideals can cross all borders and offer optimism, unity and comfort.

The film also features performances by Pete Seeger and Billy Bragg, who adds new verses to the song in an effort to express the hopes and ideals it carries for its singers of today. An award winning documentary which explores the importance of ideals, the fate of the left and the power of music as a force for change.
