At 24,000 nautical miles the power boating global circumnavigation is the world’s longest race. Episode 1: The crew begin their record attempt from Barbados. Overcoming serious mechanical issues in the Caribbean, but then making record time through the Panama Canal, they emerge in the Pacific Ocean jubilant and exhausted, only for disaster to strike. Colliding with a small fishing skiff the crew pull injured fishermen from the water. With one fisherman still missing the Earthrace vessel is boarded by the Guatemalan navy and escorted into the navy base where Pete and the crew are held captive.

Episode 2: Facing charges of negligence causing death Pete could spend up to 10 years in prison. After tense negotiations Pete is acquitted of all charges. The team make record time across the giant Pacific legs but are plagued by technical difficulties.
