Route 66 is America’s legendary ‘Mother Road.’ Since its opening over 80 years ago, it has connected Chicago with Los Angeles through eight states and four time zones. Today, it offers a nostalgic and engaging tour through a dramatic and adventurous chapter of American history.

From Chicago in the East to Los Angeles in the West – in songs, novels and for the fans of Route 66 there is only one direction. This legendary highway worms its way through the gorges of the metropolis at Lake Michigan before becoming a country road through “Smalltown America” for almost 4000 kilometres.

Still today, Route 66 resembles a museum of the 30s and 50s in many places. This three part series inquisitvely explores this rich and historic road that has come to resemble a piece of American history, American geography and the faded American dreams of decades past.
