An intimate portrait of the life and work of one of the 20th Century's most celebrated sculptors, Barbara Hepworth.
Produced with the family’s blessing, and using previously un-broadcast footage, we follow Hepworth from the discovery of sculptural forms in the countryside to the masterworks produced at her home studio in southwest England.
The film uncovers the rivalry with fellow Royal College of Art graduate Henry Moore and Hepworth’s growing legacy since her sudden death in 1975, evidenced by the two award-winning museums that now bear her name. We also hear from art experts and curators, as well as present-day artists who have been influenced by her sculptures.
