This inspiring documentary special follows a unique floating hospital as it moves from island to island, treating remote populations in the northeast of India.
At the foothills of the Himalayas lies the Brahmaputra River. Nearly 3,000km long, and with more than 2,500 islands, the river is home to three million people. On these ephemeral strips of sand, there is little infrastructure and no medical facilities, while the monsoon season breeds diseases linked to humidity.
The Travelling Boat Hospital can treat up to a thousand patients per month, who would otherwise have no access to medical care.
