Women of the Wetlands

2 x 48 HD
Broadcaster:  CNA

Suffering frequent tropical cyclones, the vast Sundarbans wetlands which straddle India and Bangladesh are on the frontlines of climate change.

The vacuum left by climate disasters has created a breeding ground for opportunistic criminals who target women. Some of these girls are kidnapped and sold to brothels. The lucky few who manage to escape or are rescued, return home only to confront the social stigma attached to their traumatic experience. Cast aside by their communities many struggle to overcome their predicament.

This is a story about how climate change has impacted the women of the Sundarbans and how they are fighting back.
