Notoriously difficult to predict, super typhoons are becoming more and more deadly, and even more prone to sudden and extreme rapid intensification. But against all odds, daring 'Typhoon Detectives' are harnessing cutting-edge tools and military technology to dive into the eye of the storm.
Super Typhoon Ragasa was the most powerful typhoon to strike Asia in 2025. So, in the Philippines, follow the storm chasers as they study the latest satellite data and brave violent winds, torrential rain and potential storm surges to capture its raw power and document the impact on communities.
Meanwhile, scientists in China launch high-tech weather balloons and the Hong Kong Airforce mobilise their aircraft to fly directly towards the storm. The network of typhoon detectives risk their lives to reach the typhoon's core and obtain crucial forecasting data for alerting the public to these mega storms across Asia and saving thousands, if not millions, of lives.
